Webbing is made from narrow or tubular textile fabrics of various cotton yarns. We have a wide variety of fabrics, which are widely used in clothing, industrial production, agriculture and animal husbandry, ordnance, road transportation and other fields. Before the 1930s, ribbons were produced manually using cotton batting and poppy flowers. After the formal establishment of the People’s Republic of China, our country vigorously promoted the textile industry and upgraded the appearance of the ribbon loom. The raw materials used for webbing have gradually developed into acrylic, vinylon, polyester, polypropylene, spandex, viscose, etc., and the three major categories of weaving, knitwear and knitting technologies have been gradually improved.
The earliest woven belts were woven by weaving (woven fabric) technology and cotton yarns interlaced with warp and weft. After twisting, the cotton yarn is turned into a simple tube (winding head), and the fine yarn is turned into a pirn to weave the strap on the loom. In the 1930s, handmade drawn wooden looms and elm looms were used to weave ribbons. In the early 1960s, professional technology transformed the 1511 loom into a ribbon loom. China has its own ribbon loom, which is still widely used today.
In 1967, Xuzhou Qixing Machinery Co., Ltd. introduced the shuttleless braiding belt employee research group in the field of weavers and successfully produced and designed a high-speed single shuttle braiding machine, realizing shuttleless webbing, reducing processing technology, miniaturizing the area and improving Labor efficiency. This is also a pioneering work in the technical history of Chinese ribbon looms.
In the 1970s, due to the extension of continuous dyeing and steam irons, ribbon processing developed from traditional dyeing and weaving techniques to weaving and dyeing, weaving and bleaching, ironing and production. Since the 1980s, the industry has introduced fast tape-free strip machines, steam irons, packaging equipment, warping machines, etc. from Switzerland, Italy, and Germany, and weaving technology has entered a new stage of development.
Improvements in ribbon loom technology have added product upgrades. In 1979, the first generation of sd9-9 plastic spindle belts was successfully manufactured in China, ending dependence on imports. In 1980, the sd-81a, B-type spindle belt was developed, which has the characteristics of soft, light, fast, small extension, small impact force, short connector, and flat. In early 1990, we successfully produced seat belts that matched the Santana sedan. After more than two years of research and trial production, product quality has reached QC49-92 and TL-WW470 specifications.
Nowadays, although the webbing machinery and equipment are relatively complex and the webbing machine technology is relatively mature, the development and independent innovation of the webbing machine still need to be continued.
